Grow Odense Campaign

Grow Odense is a conceptual campaign created to encourage citizens to use and explore Odense’s green spaces more actively. The goal was to position Odense as Denmark’s greenest big city by highlighting local green initiatives, urban gardens, community projects, and the city’s natural spaces.

The visual identity is built around a combination of clean, minimalist layouts and organic green shapes inspired by plants and natural growth.


Color Choices

The color palette is inspired by nature itself, using lime green and deep forest green tones to evoke calm, harmony, and growth. These colors create a strong visual link to Odense’s green spaces and support the campaign’s core message of sustainability and urban nature.

The campaign also uses photography from local green initiatives and city spaces is integrated to create an authentic connection to Odense and show the positive impact the campaign aims to create.

The visual system is based on key Gestalt principles to create strong visual cohesion and clarity.

  • Proximity: Elements placed close together are perceived as connected. In the Grow Odense logo, the sun rays are positioned close to the “O” in Grow, visually linking the two elements.

  • Similarity: A consistent green color palette across logo and campaign elements creates unity and recognizability.

  • Connectedness: Shapes, colors, and patterns are visually tied together across all materials, creating a strong and coherent design system.

Together, these principles ensure a clear, structured, and harmonious visual identity.

The Grow Odense logo uses a white and lime-green color combination with sun rays above the “O” in Grow to symbolize growth, energy, and sustainability. Lime green represents freshness, nature, and vitality, perfectly matching the ambition of positioning Odense as Denmark’s greenest big city.

The logo was developed through a naming and concept process focused on growth, urban nature, and community engagement.

The Grow Odense campaign is designed as a multi-channel experience that meets citizens where they are both digitally and physically in the city.

Key elements include:

  • Grow Odense website

  • Abribus campaign

  • Exhibition stand

  • Mobile office placed in central city locations

  • Guerrilla marketing with green “environmental zone fines” exchangeable for free coffee or tea

  • Promotional campaign video

The mobile office travels between busy city squares and recreational areas, making the campaign visible and accessible. The guerrilla marketing element creates attention through playful green “fines” placed on car windows, which can be redeemed for free drinks when visiting the mobile office or exhibition stand.
